I spent a bit of time clicking around themanaworld.org. As a hobby, I used to program online text multi-user dungeons (MUDs). Back then I always thought it would be cool to add a 2D graphical client. It's really neat to see you guys have built a 2D MMORPG.

Respect to you for going open source. Salvation Prophecy isn't OS, but I use a lot of OS middleware in my game. I spend a lot of time over on the Ogre3D forums, which is an open source graphics engine. I also notice you have devs from across the globe. That's super cool. The list of artists I worked with on Salvation Prophecy is shorter, but looks similar, from North America, to Europe, Asia, and Australia.

I checked out your forums. You've got a great community going on. Sure, of course you're welcome to post about Salvation Prophecy! Indie devs unite! ;)

I do think that, open sourced or not, hobby or not, indie devs have the same inner will and passion, and so it's just like helping a friend. :)

I'll be sure to do that once the game is out, since I know many people will desperately seek for a buy button at that moment, so I'd better not disappoint them, or they'll go back hunting me. :?

Best regards,
Bertram

I enjoyed the forest planet with the giant trees. It feels scifi like an alien world. I have also learned not to run into a group of enemies from watching the play it video. How do you come up with ideas for your planets? I have been watching this game for a long time and it has come a really long way G.J.!

Hey Xanadu,

For the planets, watching a lot of sci-fi movies helps. ;)

A lot of times, you can just think about a cool part of earth, like an icy arctic scene, a lush rain forest, a desolate mountainous area, or a sandy desert. Then just let your mind wander about how these places might look on a distant alien world. You might have a fantastic looking sky, unusual lights and colours, rock formations, vegetation, and of course, freaky creatures. :)
